How Much Is My Site Worth?Posted on September 19, 2010 in category » Selling Websites

If you’re a seller looking for ways to determine how much your sites worth you may be tinkering with certain web tools that “calculate” a sites value based on a number of technical factors such as Google PageRank, Alexa Rank, unique monthly visitors, number of inbound links, etc.

But are these tools enough? Well, they are important factors to consider, but overall the answer is no. Some of the foremost considerations a buyer looks for when determining a sites value is:

1. Does the website have an excellent conversion rate?

2. What is the potential for growth?

Moreover, because many tools have their own approaches in determining a sites value, it’s easy to get confused with varying price tags.

Before you put your site up for sale, we suggest you look at sites that have similar function and feature sets and that have recently sold. You may also consider asking other sellers, family or friends and try to compare the websites unique value.

Before selling, you may also want to consider a few of the following:

Monetization Schemes

As a seller, it may be easier to sell your site and increase its value by improving its various monetization opportunities. Buyers like this because it allows them to earn more passive income. This also explains why product websites and blogs sell quicker and have higher offers or bid amounts. We recommend you detail as much information about monetization schemes as possible in the Website Description field (step 2) when creating a listing.

Content

Content is the main reason why visitors reach your site, after all that’s the main reason why we all use the Internet. You can increase the value of your site with various content blend and media such as videos, podcasts, and images.

Effort

How much time have you put into your site to make it run effectively? As a seller, you can earn more if you can explain to the potential buyer how much less time he or she will spend tweaking, redesigning, rewriting, and even promoting the site.

Traffic

There are so many things to consider about traffic, such as the number of unique visitors, visitation habits, pages clicked, and duration of stay. We suggest you use free and leading analytics software from Google to get these stats.

I like to invest with people who can give me a good estimate. Some of the calculators out there are okay, but not really accurate.

Roughly, making an estimate, you could not get me to put a figure on some of my own network. (lol)

I see a lot of people putting how much they earn from advertisements in a month on their website when earning.

Problem is, what if I had a sponsorship that was worth thousands? How does that factor in, or does it?
