How to Sell

SecondWind Marketplace is an online auction listing source that allows you to either purchase or list an existing website or domain for sale.

To list a website or domain means you are holding an auction. You can start an auction simply by clicking "Sell" or “Sell A Website” on SecondWind Marketplace’s main page. You will be instructed through a series of pages asking you questions about your domain or website that you wish to sell.

You must set a starting bid price to begin the bidding process. Optionally, you can also set a "Buy Now" price if you’re willing to conclude an auction early. As a seller, you will also be asked to pay a listing fee. However, for a limited time during our Beta release, all listing fees are FREE until November 1st, 2010. Even if you’re listing doesn’t sell, you can still relist your site or domain at no additional cost. Additional listing features like color, borders or highlights are also offered at no cost for a limited time, but check out our complete list of fees for details.

Once this process is complete, your auction will begin.

In order for buyers to place a successful bid, you must either accept or reject each bid that is placed with your auction. As a seller, you have the right to accept or reject bids until the auction is completed.

Once you accept a bid, buyers will no longer be able to place bids for less than or equal to the original bid price. As a seller, you are legally bound to sell your site or domain to the winning bidder.

Once the auction has concluded, you must collect payment and transfer the site or domain to the winning bidder. As a seller, SecondWind Marketplace will send you an email with the winning bidder’s contact information; however, the details of how to collect payment and transfer the website or domain are between you and the buyer to negotiate. As always, SecondWind Marketplace recommends you work out these details before accepting a bid from a potential buyer.

When your auction ends, you will be required to pay the success fee. The success fee is always invoiced to the seller regardless of what option you chose when you created a listing. If you chose to split the success fee or have it paid by the buyer, you are still responsible for collecting the payment from the buyer and in return paying the success fee under My Invoices. The success fee must be paid within 30 days of auction close.

After November 1st, 2010, the success fee will be 5.0% of the final auction listing and will be capped at $250.
